Date

Spring 2022

Location

Norfolk, VA- ODU

The purpose of this course is to teach about various functions of management within an organization. The class was taught with many discussions about scenarios, notes, tests and some written assignments. This course helped me understand different ways of managing scenarios that dealt with differences between individuals within the organization.
This course taught me about the managerial process which include planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. An assignment included writing up a procedure that might be necessary to refer to for new employee training. It gave us insight on the process of planning a procedure, leading the employees through the process and controlling the outcome of the procedure which include making adjustments and taking suggestions for improvements.

Overall, this course taught me how to better my understanding about how a business should run on behalf of the success in the upper management team structure. This course has improved my ability to evaluate the dynamics between teams in my academic and professional experiences in an effort of successfully completing the end goal set for everyone involved. The group discussions were key in learning about how others would assess and respond to situations as a manager. It gave me a clear understanding how others perceive and respond to different styles of management as well as how to adjust my style of management to better suit the needs of those involved.
